Transforming classes to safe spaces through becoming trauma aware.
This project is dedicated to all Gabriel Fernandez of this world.
We work face-to-face and remotely with schools, families and the community to promote evidence-based trauma sensitive practices. We offer training, research, and consultation services on how to transform experience and support learning among children from hard places.
Our team works to provide educational consultancy, professional development services and intervention programmes and does cutting edge research as part of international networks on trauma informed education.
Our guiding principles
Children are seen and heard
Children should be seen for who they are and should be heard.
About this project
This project was conceived few years back during the time I was working with adoptive families and the challenges they faced on the one hand and with a wide range of teachers and school professionals as part of my university teaching and training activities on the other. Through the various opportunities it was made clear to me that teachers did not have appropriate information and knowledge on the prevalence of children with adversity and trauma in their classrooms or on the effect of such events in children behaviour.
Since then I have concentrated my research and practice on trauma informed education and teachers' training, because it is my wish that every child matters in every school.
